THE WORKSHOP PROCESS
We take participants through the real process of turning computer components into a complete, working gaming PC. They will be involved in every step of the way with support from our experienced mentors.
Explore and Choose
Learn about different parts of a comupter and how they work, and how to choose the right components.
Setup and Test
Practice troubleshooting and testing components. Install an operating system and configure it.
Build
Assemble your computer step-by-step, learning the process, supported by experienced mentors.

Test your PC with games! Stress test your PC by playing games with your friends.
Bonus Level
At the end of the program, you will have the opportunity to purchase the gaming PC and take all your hard work home!

WANT YOUR OWN GAMING PC?
Participants will have the option to purchase a gaming PC at the completion of the program, allowing them to take their PC-building experience home with them. We’ll offer a range of PC configurations to suit different budgets and gaming needs, with opportunities to select or upgrade components such as the graphics card, storage and memory. The aim is to make purchasing a gaming PC affordable, understandable and connected to what participants have learned during the workshop. Purchasing a PC is completely optional and is not required to participate in the program
WHAT WE DO
Build & Upgrade
Learn how computers work by assembling systems, installing components and upgrading real PCs.
Test & Troubleshoot
Develop practical problem-solving skills by testing computer components, identifying faults and working through possible solutions.
Repair & Maintain
Learn basic computer maintenance and repair skills while working with real equipment and hardware.
Learn Tech Skills
Explore computer hardware, operating systems, software, networking and other areas of technology through practical activities.
Game & Connect
Technology isn’t only about work. Participants have opportunities to game, collaborate, share interests and connect with other young people.
WHO IT'S FOR
The Computer Workshop is designed for young people who:
- Are interested in computers, gaming or technology
- Enjoy learning through hands-on activities
- Want to develop practical computer skills
- Benefit from learning in a small, supportive environment
- Would like to meet others with similar interests
- Want to build confidence and independence
- May find traditional classroom environments difficult or engaging
No previous computer building or repair experience is required.
PROGRAM DETAILS
Session Format:
- Small supported group 4-6 participants
- Completed over 2 sessions (flexible)
Duration:
- 2.5hrs
Structure:
- 5-10 minute intro
- 45-50 minutes PC building
- 10 minute snack break
- 20 minutes PC building
- 50 minutes social gaming
Dates & Times:
- School Holidays
- Weekends (one-on-one)
- During school hours (one-on-one)
Gaming PCs/Equipment:
- Various levels of gaming PCs to suit all budget
- New and second hand refurbished components available

The finished computer is only one part of the experience.
Throughout the program, participants have opportunities to develop:
